Hi
Just back from our trip up the Birdsville during which we travelled to the Page Grave area trying for the second time to locate it.
As most members would know there has been a lot of rain up that way and there was a lot of undergrowth waist high. We manage to locate it by spotting the white painted top of the cross. as this area is very heavy going with all the vegetation etc. We were about a kilometre from the site when we forced to get and walk, no sign of any tracks as shown in Phils photo from my previous thread. Thanks to info from Phil we found it.
The family have been there and laid a memorial stone.
Cheers for now
Mike

The family were escorted there by Sully last year and laid the stone. I spoke with some of them in the Birdsville pub

Hi Phil
Yes we found it Eventually - Thanks to your plotted course & photos.
As stated the area is coverd by heavy undergrowth, any higher and we may not have found it. There is also a lot of water in this area but we had a dry drive into the area. We cleaned the site of weeds etc & left wondering if Roberts resting place had been located.

Cheers 4 now

I read the article listed in the original thread. I felt gutted imagining how it must have felt to carry your 10 and 12 year old sons half naked, knowing that they were dying of thirst. What a terrible, tragic story.

My other thought when I read the header was 'Page Family' huh, who is writing a thread about my family?!? (That is our surname, too :/ )

Is the headstone actually on the grave or just marking the approximate area??

Hi John
The memorial is actually laid on the grave itself.
